UKTheatreSchool Associate Schools

UKTheatreSchool's main performing arts academy is in the heart of Glasgow's bustling city centre.  It houses over 700 students all training at beginner, intermediate or advanced levels of performing arts disciplines.

The Glasgow academy's students cover the Mainstream Program of Acting, Singing & Dance as well as other more vocational courses in Musical Theatre, Acting for Film and Television, Advanced Dance, Advanced Singing and RAD Ballet as well as the LAMDA exam syllabus.

It became clear that although many young people will still travel through to Glasgow from all over the country (we have students from Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee, Rothsey, Lockerbie, the Borders, etc.) on a weekly basis to study performing arts there were still many talented young people who for one reason or another could not make that journey.  Many people cannot afford the time or perhaps the costs involved in te extra travelling therefore; a performing arts school closer to home would be the answer.

Lizanne Thomson, founder and Principal of UKTheatreSchool introduced the UKTheatreSchool Associate Schools in 2005 with the first one; UKTheatreSchool London and then UKTheatreSchool Livingston, quickly followed by UKTheatreSchool Loch Lomond.

The Associate Schools carry the Mainstream program and the curriculum within that syllabus is the same as the main performing arts academy in Glasgow.  The Associate Schools also benefit from the affiliation with the main UKTheatreSchool as all Associate School students are able to be involved in all of the same casting opportunities open to the main academy.  They are also able to audition to be cast in all major productions in the main academy and they are all coached and trained to prepare them for eventually or hopefully passing over onto the Intermediate and Advanced levels of tuition in UKTheatreSchool Glasgow.

It is fair to say that all Associate Schools can also be used as 'feeder schools' to the Glasgow and London schools however; students do not have to progress to the main academies.  They can choose to continue with their local Associate School.

UKTheatreSchool London has the advantage of being set in the heart of London's West End and although the main curriculum there is our Mainstream Program taught throughout our Associate Schools; the London school also has a advanced Musical Theatre Masterclass Courses running too as well as the RAD & ISTD Dance examinations available.

Students from our Glasgow Musical Theatre Masterclass do exchanges with the London MT Masterclass students once per year.
